When You Know You Made the Right Choice: My Journey to an Unforgettable SKO

Let me start by saying that Sales Kickoff (SKO) is truly the best time of the year to be on the sales team. This year was no exception and it reinforced how happy I am that I joined SnapLogic. Let me take you back to where it started.

In July 2024, I took a leap into something new. A new company. A new team. A new opportunity.

With every transition comes a mix of excitement and uncertainty. No matter how many interviews you have or how much research you do, there are always lingering questions. What is the company’s culture really like beyond the polished messaging? Will the core values be more than just words on a website? How would it feel to work alongside the executive team? Will my colleagues be as collaborative and driven as I hope? And ultimately—have I made the right decision?

Now, eight months later, I have my answer. And it’s a resounding yes.

We just wrapped up what I can only describe as an extraordinary SKO—one that left me reflecting on how truly special this team and company are. Over the past several months, in partnership with our Executive Team and colleagues across multiple departments, we meticulously planned every detail of this event. We traveled from around the world to the Arizona Biltmore, not just to check a box on an annual meeting but to create something meaningful—an experience that would inspire, align, and energize our teams for the year ahead.

What made this SKO exceptional wasn’t just the agenda, the keynotes, or the breakouts—it was the people. It was the spirit of collaboration and the sense of shared purpose that permeated every session, every conversation, every celebration. This wasn’t just an event; it was a testament to what happens when a company’s culture is alive and thriving.

Five lessons that defined our SKO

Looking back on the months of preparation and the event itself, there were five key principles that made all the difference:

  1. Trust in the team – Trust is the foundation of everything. Without it, progress slows, ideas get stuck in endless debate, and execution suffers. But when trust is present, teams move with confidence, knowing they are all working toward the same goal.
  2. Set ambitious goals and execute relentlessly – It’s easy to settle for “good enough,” but that was never our approach. From the outset, we aimed high—pushing for a kickoff that would inspire and challenge our teams. But vision alone isn’t enough. Execution is what turns strategy into reality.
  3. Precision and focus matter – Every detail was intentional. From content to logistics, from speaker selection to interactive sessions—everything was designed with a clear purpose. A well-executed event is never an accident; it’s the result of careful planning and an unwavering focus on outcomes.
  4. Collaboration across teams is the true differentiator – This event was only possible because of the deep collaboration across multiple functions—sales, marketing, product, customer success, and beyond. The best ideas don’t come from a single team working in isolation; they emerge when diverse perspectives come together to solve problems and create something bigger than themselves.
  5. Celebrate the wins and energize for what’s next – Success should be recognized and celebrated. Taking the time to acknowledge achievements, both big and small, fuels motivation and strengthens the culture. But just as important as celebrating is looking ahead. What comes next? How do we build on this momentum?

Guardare al futuro

One moment from the SKO will stay with me for a long time. Someone who has been with SnapLogic for twelve years pulled me aside and said, “This was the best SKO I’ve ever been a part of.” Hearing that was incredibly rewarding—but it also set a new challenge. If this year’s event was a reflection of what we’ve achieved so far, I can only imagine how epic it will be by SKO27! I believe the best is yet to come.

To everyone who contributed, participated, and brought this vision to life—thank you. This was a moment worth remembering, and I cannot wait to see what we create together next. And hey, if you want to come and join the team, give me a shout. You won’t regret it.
