Considerations for a strategic digital transformation road map

2 min read

For those who have missed it, we recently hosted the webcast “Considerations for a Strategic Digital Transformation Road Map,” with special guest, Paul Miller, a senior analyst from Forrester. Joining Paul was Diletta D’Onofrio, who heads digital transformation at SnapLogic. Some of the topics this webcast covers include where you may stand in your digital transformation journey among your peers, how to blueprint, execute and plan the digital transformation process, which technological and strategic best practices to follow, and what pitfalls to avoid.

What set this webcast apart from other digital transformation-themed ones I’ve listened to are the pragmatic explanations both hosts gave on digital transformation – a concept that means different things to different people. Paul not only defined digital transformation, but also elegantly explained how we got to the point where everyone knows digital transformation is important, but may not know exactly why.

And while it’s always great to hear Diletta talk about large, industry-shaping business trends, hearing her break down digital transformation into actionable, measurable steps was uniquely fascinating. With her real-world examples and the kind of knowledge you gain only by being part of the process that helps companies overcome their struggles, watching this webcast answered a lot of questions for me.

To give you an idea of the practicality of the webcast, I wanted to call out one of the questions posed to Diletta:

Q: “In our organization, we’ve been talking about creating an enterprise service bus (ESB) or an enterprise service layer (ESL) to help handshake and the website. iPaaS looks like it acts like an ESB and ESL and so much more. How do these approaches compare?”

A: “What we’ve done in the marketplace is not simply replacing traditional bus systems but also augmenting with additional capabilities, so my recommendation is to make sure the requirements of your integration between the application and the website are clear. If you can make sure that any type of traditional bus system can actually satisfy them, and if not, then you should consider an iPaaS solution.”

I always value getting actionable information from any webcast I participate in. If you do too, I highly encourage you to give “Considerations for a strategic digital transformation road map” a listen.
