Forrester on digital transformation – Public cloud spending in hypergrowth

2 min read

Our recent webcast, Considerations for a Strategic Digital Transformation Road Map, tackled what “digital transformation” really means and how you can benefit from taking a strategic approach to digital transformation at your company. Getting into the more nuts-and-bolts of this topic, guest Dr. Paul Miller, a senior analyst from Forrester, and Diletta D’Onofrio, who heads digital transformation at SnapLogic also talked about the role integration platforms can play in migrating, accessing, transforming, and interpreting data as a major driver for business strategy.

One of the things that has stuck with me is how Paul explained how companies are changing their business practices to be centered around the customer: “At Forrester, we are seeing more companies with tightly interconnected networks where manufacturers, designers, supply chain partners, retailers, and the customers themselves are all engaged in this rich, interactive, ever-changing, ever-updating interaction of communication and ideas.”

Paul explained this is why companies have been significantly increasing their investments in the cloud, creating the “digital transformation” phenomena we’re seeing today. Since cloud native technologies – whether we’re talking about apps, data lakes, services, etc. – are built to be the most nimble and adjustable business platforms, organizations are increasingly using them for their day-to-day business.

But with all this increased spend on cloud technologies, I thought this would create an unsustainable cycle for large companies but also an unattainable cycle for smaller companies. This is where Diletta explained how she works to help companies take advantage of all the benefits of customer-centric digital transformation while helping eliminate rigorous tech requirements and significantly decreasing costs.

This digital transformation webcast helped create a clear “A to B to C” explanation of what began the digital transformation movement, what technologies it is impacting and to what degree, and how SnapLogic can significantly decrease new barriers to digital transformation.
