SnapLogic and Restlet Announce Partnership to Bring API Management Capabilities to Data Integration Experts
Joint customers provided with ability to seamlessly expose data and application integration pipelines as RESTful APIs
SAN MATEO, Calif. — June 23, 2015 — SnapLogic, an industry leader in enterprise integration platform as a service (iPaaS) and Restlet, creators of the most widely deployed framework for creating web APIs, today announced a strategic partnership that aims at simplifying the development, publication and execution of any integration processes. Under the terms of the partnership, the two companies have certified their respective platforms to interoperate seamlessly together, making it easy for integration experts to expose SnapLogic’s Elastic Integration Platform pipelines as web APIs. These APIs, compliant with the REST architectural style, can be invoked by any authorized user, application, web backend or mobile app through a simple and standardized HTTP call in order to programmatically trigger the execution of the SnapLogic pipeline.
SnapLogic’s unified integration platform as a service (iPaaS) allows citizen integrators and developers to build multi-point integration pipelines that connect cloud and on-premises applications as well as disparate enterprise data sources for big data analytics, and expose them as RESTful APIs. Restlet’s APISpark is the first Platform as a Service fully dedicated to the management of RESTful APIs. Through APISpark, integration professionals are able to augment any SnapLogic pipeline with the following capabilities:
- API documentation and SDKs: APISpark automatically discovers the structure and parameters of RESTful APIs through the import of the Swagger API descriptor file, and creates dynamic documentation that make it easy for developers to invoke the API. Client SDKs for the most popular mobile platforms and development language are similarly created.
- Security, permissions and access control: owners/administrators of SnapLogic pipelines define through APISpark which users can invoke the API and set granular permissions on each resource, defining precisely the access parameters of the pipeline.
- Firewall with rate limitation and DoS attach protection: APISpark features elaborate protection mechanisms that prevent undesired traffic on the API and block excess usage. Granular parameters can be defined per user or user group.
- Analytics: the APISpark console reports on call volumes, response times and failure rates, and provides a detailed view on the API usage to the SnapLogic pipeline owner.
“Unlike legacy enterprise service bus (ESB) technology, SnapLogic is built on modern standards (JSON, REST) and supports both low-latency ‘always-on’ integration use cases and batch-oriented data integration requirements,” said Jack Kudale, senior vice president of field operations at SnapLogic. “Similarly, the APISpark platform was built for the cloud, with ease of use in mind, to manage and streamline the full lifecycle of web APIs. This partnership expands the application and data integration possibilities for our joint solutions.”
“SnapLogic is a visionary in the cloud-based integration space and we are thrilled that they have chosen APISpark, our Platform as a Service for APIs, to extend their Integration Platform as a Service and provide API management capabilities to their users,” said Jerome Louvel, Restlet’s Chief Geek and founder. “With over 300 pre-built connectors available in SnapLogic’s Elastic Integration Platform, this partnership enables virtually any data sources, from legacy to cloud, big data and social platforms, to be exposed as RESTful APIs.”
