SnapLogic Customer Northgate Markets Wins Award of Excellence for Success with SnapLogic Integration Cloud

Northgate CIO Harrison Lewis selected for achieving outstanding benefits for his organization

SAN MATEO, Calif. — April 15, 2014 — SnapLogic, the Elastic Integration TM company, today announced that its customer Harrison Lewis, CIO of Northgate Markets, has been honored with an Award of Excellence in the Office of Midmarket CIO by Boardroom Events. The award recognizes powerful collaborations between technology vendors and midmarket IT teams that resulted in outstanding benefits for their organization.

“Northgate Markets is enjoying fast and steady growth, and we rely on a strong foundation of enabling technologies. Working with SnapLogic has enabled us to make better use of both our on-premise and cloud applications and drive greater benefits from our overall investments,” said Harrison Lewis, CIO of Northgate Markets. “I’m pleased to receive this award on behalf of both Northgate and SnapLogic. It is a testament to our collaboration and the Northgate IT strategy.”

“We congratulate Harrison Lewis on being recognized for his vision, leadership, and business results,” said Gaurav Dhillon, CEO at SnapLogic. “Increasingly CIOs are looking to more modern, faster approaches to the age-old challenges of application and data integration. SnapLogic is proud to be supporting Northgate’s continued growth with a platform built for today’s integration requirements that runs at cloud speed.”

Summary of the Northgate Markets project with SnapLogic
Founded in 1980 by Mexican immigrant Miguel Gonzalez Sr. and his family, Northgate Markets today has 38 stores serving the needs of the Hispanic community in Los Angeles, San Diego and Orange Counties.

Northgate created a distribution center and purchased new distribution systems to support ongoing company growth, including Microsoft Dynamics AX for enterprise resource planning (ERP) and Red Prairie for its warehouse management system (WMS). While the ERP and WMS systems greatly improved the respective financial and warehouse processes, having disparate systems didn’t provide a holistic view of Northgate’s supply chain.

Northgate was faced with a common challenge for growing companies: how can the IT team optimize systems and improve business operations while keeping costs in check? A decision was made to connect the various technology systems within the company and its entities so it would improve mission-critical infrastructure.

Looking to avoid lengthy and costly integration projects, Northgate chose an integration platform as a service (iPaaS) from SnapLogic. Instead of traditional point-to-point integrations, an iPaaS is a suite of cloud services that enables faster integration flows across on premise and cloud-based applications, data, processes and services.

The SnapLogic Integration Cloud was used to modernize and connect the ERP and WMS systems in only 12 weeks. After completing the initial integrations with SnapLogic, Northgate was able to achieve a significant improvement in sales order throughput and accuracy. And because the cost of integration with an iPaaS was significantly lower than traditional point-to-point integrations, Northgate has remaining budget to apply to further connecting the new systems with legacy applications.

Winners of the Award of Excellence were selected by a panel of CIO peers based on: nature, breadth and complexity of the project; results in terms of performance improvement and financial benefits; and the ability to characterize the project and effectively communicate its significance.
